Official copies of Title Registers and Title Plans are the two main title documents of land and property, and are often called the Title Deeds, Property Deeds or House Deeds. An official copy of a Title Register is the definitive record of land and property ownership, and provides official proof of ownership for land and property owners.
An official copy of a Title Register contains the following information:
- Property ownership information, including the name and address of the current registered owners.
- Details of all rights/easements, such as rights of way, parking rights and drainage rights.
- Details of any restrictive covenants, which can have a significant and substantial impact on the use and value of land and property.
- Details of maintenance responsibilities for boundary structures (e.g. fences and walls) when they are specifically referred to in the registered deeds.
- Date of purchase and price paid/value stated for any property that has been sold since April 2000.
- Details of any mortgages, including the name and address of the lender.
- Important information contained in the original deeds (e.g. conveyances, transfers and agreements). If an original deed has been retained on file/is available it will be referred to in the Title Register as being ‘filed’.
- Tenure – whether the land or property is freehold or leasehold.
- Details of lease agreements, such as the date, the parties and its length.
- The unique Title Number allocated to the property or land.
